The SASA! approach is a community intervention developed by the Ugandan NGO Raising Voices, which addresses the imbalance of power between women and men, girls and boys. Communities are mobilized to rethink and change gender discriminatory attitudes, behavior and social norms that result in gender inequality and violence against women and girls.

The SASA! programme in Tanzania was launched in 2014 when a Baseline Study was conducted and was made possible by a grant from Norad through FOKUS. The programme is implemented in Kigoma and Mwanza. The End Line Study demonstrates that the prevalence of intimate partner violence of women in the intervention communities has been significantly reduced since programme baseline.
