FOKUS - Forum for Women and Development - works to strengthen women’s rights and opportunities through development cooperation in eight countries in East Africa and Latin America, in addition to national and international advocacy efforts.
As a competence and resource centre on international gender equality, FOKUS aims to strengthen international commitment to and efforts for women’s human rights and participation in society. FOKUS is an umbrella organisation for 44 Norwegian member organisations and was established in 1995.
We receive financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Grieg Foundation, Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees, Norwegian Union of Social Educators and Social Workers, and private monthly donors. FOKUS is approved by the Norwegian Control Committee for Fundraising.
FOKUS has a board and a secretariat in Norway, a regional office in Colombia and a hub in Uganda.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway is FOKUS’ patron.

Support us. We know it works.

FOKUS works for a society based on equality and equity, where women’s human rights are respected and protected. A donation to FOKUS contributes to our work to strengthen women’s power, rights and access to resources, in cooperation with local women’s organisations.
