Gaborone, Botswana
19th - 23rd November 2001
The networking conference took place in Gaborone during on one hectic week in November 2001.
Women from 17 women's organisations; eleven from different African countries and
their seven sister organisations in Norway met and lived together. We were brought together because we wanted to learn from each other, be inspired and strengthened in
our work. The organisations work in different areas and different social and economic
contexts, but we all have the empowerment of women as our goal.
All the organisations projects are supported through FOKUS and NORAD funding. NORAD sponsored the conference and we would like to extend our thanks to them for their supportiveness.
The week in Gaborone was a success. We started out with eager expectations not knowing where the conference would land us.
During the week we created our own enthusiastic energy from our common experiences
as women and our desire of women's empowerment.
We were able to sum up our discussions in a "Plan of Action".
The presentations made during the conference have been compiled into a conference report.
