The overall theme of the FOKUS Networking conference in Bangladesh was ‘Women’s political and economic rights. A number of organizations from Norway and their partnerorganizations from Asia and Africa came together for four days to discuss this issue, more specifically focusing on:
• Women in politics
• Women and work
• Land and property rights
• Gender budgeting
• Women and climate change
The goal of the conference was:
• Capacity building and exchange of experience between the
South partners, Norwegian member organizations and invited speakers
on the issues of political and economic rights of women.
• Strengthened networks between South partners, Norwegian member
organizations and invited speakers/other participants.
• A FOKUS Policy on Women’s Economic and Political Rights and
Participation that is agreed upon by South partners and Norwegian
• Understanding of the process of going from a project to a program
The network conference was divided into four parts. The first day was a presentation of the delegates, along with a short introduction of the process of going from a project to a
program approach. The second day we focused on political rights and participation and the third day on economic rights and participation. The last day the delegates participated in two workshops concerning the program process and the FOKUS policy on women’s economic and political rights and participation.
